A message from Mrs Osborne Director of Teaching and Learning

We work very hard to ensure an exciting and challenging curriculum for our students that will enable them to thrive and progress in their time at Gamlingay Village College. We are a dedicated team of staff who are passionate about our subjects and we aim to work consistently and collaboratively to facilitate pupil achievement.

We are committed to presenting relevant topics to students in innovative ways and continually  search for new ways to make impact with our teaching. We look to maintain a high reading in what we like to call “the classroom barometer of learning”  which -  put simply – means we ensure our pace and activities keeps the interest and engagement of every child. We take the variety of learning styles seriously and adapt our lessons accordingly wherever possible. We are inclusive  of every ability and champion progress on every level.

Marking and assessment is viewed by our staff as vital to the teacher-student dialogue and is demonstrated regularly and consistently in written and oral forms. We believe it encourages students to reflect on their attainment and how their work can be further improved. Peer and self-assessment is a powerful part of this process and we encourage our students to take ownership of their work and become independent learners wherever possible.
