2017.07.14: Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
Academic Reports 2017
We are pleased to send home our end of year reports and we hope that you will find these useful in capturing your child’s progress during the 2016-17 academic year. The progress data is presented in the usual format and written comments are designed to capture successes as well as suggesting targets for further improvement next year.
Please direct any enquiries regarding individual subjects to the relevant teacher, and I am happy to discuss any more general issues.
Go Ape Trip
We enjoyed a wonderful day at the Go Ape course in Thetford Forest on Wednesday. I would like to formally thank the Friends of GVC for funding this trip – ensuring that it was completely free of charge for every student who attended.
Despite shaky legs, tears and abject terror (that was just me), many of our staff, students and parents faced their fears and completed the course. Some of our pupils were a little more confident and literally showed the rest of us the ropes! Pictures can be found on the website.
As this is an end of year like no other, we have been keen to support our pupils in remembering all of the great friends that they have made during their time at GVC, no matter which secondary, middle or upper school they are transferring too.
To this end the Friends of GVC have generously provided each student with an autograph book – to collect comments from pupils and teachers and to record contact details for those friends they wish to keep in touch with.
The books will be issued today and students may bring them into school every day next week. Huge thanks again to the Friends of GVC for providing this great memento of this academic year.
End of Term Arrangements
As we approach the final week of term, I would be grateful if parents could help their children in carrying out the following actions;
1. Any library books need to be returned to Mrs Evans
2. If your child is leaving GVC, they must clear out their locker and return the key to Mrs Wright, who will then refund the deposit.
3. Ensure that all belongings are removed from the school site by 3.40pm on Thursday 20th July.
4. Collect any lost property which will be on display for all of next week.
Thank you in advance for helping to ensure that we have organised and tidy end of term – ready for the summer clean!
Gamlingay Community Collection for Grenfell Tower
We have been asked by the Gamlingay Community Fundraising Team to help collect money for the families of Grenfell Tower. We are of course happy to help support and there is a collection bucket in reception in the front of school. Parents, staff and students are more than welcome to donate any spare change to this worthy cause.
We look forward to a busy week ahead as we see the academic year off with a wide range of events and celebrations of student achievements, I will of course write my final letter next week – a task which will be an emotional one as my time at this wonderful school draws to a close.
