2017.03.10: Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
Year 5 Film Premiere
Year 5 premiered their movie “El dorado” on Wednesday evening, complete with a red carpet and awards ceremony.
Every pupil shared a piece of work that they were particularly proud of and many were also interviewed on the red carpet. Parents and guests were very impressed with the film and congratulations to all of Year 5 on such a wonderful achievement. Photographs can be found on the GVC website.
Preparing for SATS in Year 6
We are approaching the final stages of preparation for the Year 6 SATS examinations in May and pupils are working exceptionally well and look set to achieve great things.
A reminder to parents that the tests will take pace during the week commencing 8th May 2017 and we are also holding full “mock” SAT examinations next week.
Attendance in school is clearly always essential, but we thank parents in advance for ensuring that their children are free of medical or dental appointments for the week of the SATS examinations.
Show My Homework
We are pleased with how well this platform is being used by parents and pupils in organising homework and downloading tasks. We have been informed by the company that runs the system that our usage data is significantly above that of other schools who use the platform.
If you or your child is having difficulty accessing homework or logging on to the system, please contact Mrs Wright at the school office who will be happy to help.
Football Success at GVC
We have enjoyed a number of football fixtures over the past couple of weeks and both our Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 teams have played very well against a range of opponents.
Particular congratulations go to our Key Stage 3 team who won against Potton Middle School by a score of 7-4, featuring a hat-trick from Josh in year 8.
The Captains of all teams presented their match reports in assembly this week.
As ever, we have a packed schedule of events and milestones over the coming few weeks and I thought it may be useful to compile these in one place:
