2017.02.24: Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
I hope that all pupils enjoyed a restful break and are already well into the swing of another exciting half term.
GVC are Victorious!
Congratulations to a group of pupils who went to the Tomorrow’s Engineers’ Robotics Challenge at West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday 22nd February. The team achieved incredibly well in all aspects of the competition and I’m delighted to say that we were the winners of the EEP Robot Challenge. Huge congratulations to all concerned and we were proud to present the team with their trophy in assembly this afternoon. Photographs can be found on the GVC website. The team comprised of pupils from Year 8 and congratulations to Adam, Robert, Charlotte, Darren, Jenson, Tom, Alfie, Phoebe & Colin. Thanks also to Mr Hearn, Miss Green and Mr Daisley for organising the event.
World Book Day 2017
A final reminder that it is World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March. All children are invited to dress up as a character from a book on the day, and the rumour is that some staff may be dressing up too!
Easter Progress Check 2017
As we plan our termly assessments ready for the Progress Checks at the end of term, I have realised the need to amend the date of issue of our Easter Progress Check. Parents will now receive the Progress Check on Friday 31st March 2017, which will allow us to complete our teaching and assessments in good time for publication to parents, whilst still leaving time for any queries to be raised before the end of term on the 4th April.
Mid-Year Book review
Following the huge success of this programme last year, we are again planning to send all books and pupil work home during the Easter holidays for parents to enjoy. The aim is for our pupils to showcase their wonderful achievement so far this year and talk through work they are particularly proud of, or challenges that they have overcome.
Further details to follow and a reminder that of course we do need everything returned to school to enable us to continue with our excellent work.
Thank you as always for your support for Gamlingay Village College. If there is anything you would like to discuss please do not hesitate to contact me via Nicola Richardson on the main school number or by emailing
