Message from Mr Jukes

Welcome and introduction from Mr Jukes – Executive Headteacher

I would like to take the opportunity of the Newsletter to introduce myself as the new Executive Headteacher of Gamlingay Village College for the next year and welcome all staff, parents and children to the Cam Academy Trust. The school officially transferred to the trust on the 1st September 2017 and we are looking forward to ensuring the continued delivery of excellent education to all the pupils at the school over the next year.

As part of my induction in to the school I held a short assembly to introduce myself and briefly explain the journey of the school over the next year to the 26 pupils remaining at the school. The aspect that I stressed with the pupils is that they are the last pupils to attend the school before it closes next year, so we need to be thinking about the legacy that they and the staff will be leaving and the importance of this. We will be making sure that throughout the next year that opportunities are identified to achieve, beginning with school photographs next week and thus will be able to have a whole school photograph.

I will make sure that all parents are kept up to date with the changes that will take place during the year in relation to building works and thus relocation of the pupils to temporary accommodation for the spring and summer term. I will make sure there is clarity of what will be happening and when, as well as how this will impact the routines of the school.

As I get to know the pupils and school over the next year the focus is on ensuring outstanding education for all and I want to make sure there is a good partnership with all parents to enable this to be achieved. You are very welcome to discuss any issues with form tutors or the senior leaders Mrs Phillips and Mrs Sherwood-Hulme as when required.

I look forward to working positively with the school community over the next year to ensure an outstanding final year for the pupils of Gamlingay Village College.
