20.07.2017: Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
It has been a great privilege and honour to have been the Headteacher at Gamlingay Village College for the past 2 years and I am enormously proud of all that we have achieved together in that time.
I would like to thank every single member of the school and wider community for the support and warmth that has been shown to me during my time here. I consider myself hugely fortunate to have worked with such a talented and committed team of staff. Their dedication to this school has been exemplary and I know how much their commitment to the academic achievements and personal development of every child has been appreciated. It is farewell to GVC from a number of members of staff: Mrs Sunderland, Mrs Luck and Miss Gabbitas-Smith will all take up new positions at Stratton Upper School and Miss Hankinson will begin a new role at Sharnbrook Upper School in Bedford. I would also like to express my best wishes to all the staff who are staying at GVC to ensure another excellent year in 2017-18.
I am also profoundly grateful for the great support that parents and their families have given to the school during my time as Headteacher. You rightly hold high expectations for the school and for your children’s education and I have genuinely appreciated your engagement, care and energy in working with us to make GVC such a wonderful school.
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank all of our students. You are consistently positive, endlessly enthusiastic and of course – immaculately behaved! Ultimately, it is our students who are the heart beat of the school and you have been an absolute pleasure to work with, from the first day to the last. I wish every individual the very best for the future and I know you will achieve great things in the next stage of your education. Remember the power of resilience, positivity and immaculate behaviour – it is these qualities that have ensured that you have achieved so much success.
I am very proud of our school. We are a good school in Ofsted terms – and we also have great academic outcomes to match. However, what I am most proud of, is that we are a very happy school, an incredibly positive school and a school in which we all look after each other. I have loved my time here and thank you for having me.
I hope that students, staff and their families enjoy a refreshing summer break and will, I am sure be ready for fresh challenges in September!
