19.05.2017: Letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers
There remain plenty of exciting events to look forward to as we approach the final week of this half term. Although the weather sabotaged the cricket fixture scheduled for this week, we are working with our partner schools to find an alternative date.
World of Work Day – 23rd May 2017
Form the Future (the charity that are running the day) launched the event during a special assembly this afternoon. The day itself will feature enterprise challenges in a dragons den style and a “What’s my line?” activity with visiting professionals from a variety of vocations.
There are no special requirements for the day from a parental viewpoint. Pupils should arrive for an 8.45am start as usual and look forward to an interesting and stimulating day!
Some parents may have noticed that Karis Gabbitas-Smith has been in school again as she returns from maternity leave. Miss Gabbitas-Smith will resume her position as Headteacher’s PA on 19th June, working three days each week from 9am to 3pm. We will at that time say a final farewell to Nicola Richardson who is on her third stint at GVC! Mrs Richardson will of course resume her full time role at Stratton Upper School – so parents may well meet her again in the future!
Thank you to Sophie who has been with us on work experience from Stratton Upper School. Sophie has been placed with a range of year groups across the curriculum and has worked positively and effectively with staff and pupils alike.
School Production 2017
This will take a slightly different format to previous years and our aim is for every child at GVC to have a role in the production. Each year group will present a short extract in order that we can showcase a range of work from across the curriculum. Further details to follow, but the allocated dates are 7.30pm on 6th and 7th July 2017.
